Featured Landscaping & Hydroseeding Products

  • What are the advantages of using a pellet mulch over a conventional bale mulch?

Pellet mulches like EDGE™ and EZ Mulch™ AF offer several practical advantages for hydroseeding contractors. They are compatible with both mechanical- and jet-agitation hydroseeders and require approximately 50% less water to apply than conventional bale mulches, significantly reducing fill time and fuel costs. They load without bale cutting and mix quickly, improving daily productivity. They can also be applied dry with a fertilizer spreader or blower for sites with limited water access, cold-weather conditions, difficult terrain, or areas a hydroseeder cannot easily reach.

  • When does it make sense to upgrade a client from standard mulch to a performance mulch?

The upgrade conversation makes sense whenever a project has slopes steeper than 3:1, is subject to intense rainfall or concentrated runoff, or carries significant consequences if erosion control fails—such as sites near waterways, high-visibility locations, or projects where washouts could lead to costly callbacks. Performance mulches like EarthGuard® Fiber Matrix, HELIX™, and Flex Guard® provide significantly higher erosion control performance than standard wood fiber mulch and can mean the difference between a job that holds and one that washes—protecting your reputation and your client’s investment.

  • When should I use a biotic soil amendment like Organix™ or Fusion™?

Consider a biotic soil amendment when the soil itself is too depleted, compacted, disturbed, or low in organic matter to support reliable vegetation establishment. Organix™ and Fusion™ help rebuild the growing environment by improving soil structure, nutrient availability, moisture retention, and biological activity. They are especially valuable on reclamation sites, severely disturbed soils, areas where previous seeding attempts have failed, or projects where importing and spreading replacement topsoil would be costly or impractical.

  • Are LSC mulch products compatible with my existing hydroseeding equipment?

Yes. All LSC hydraulic mulch products — bale and pellet formats — are compatible with standard jet-agitation and mechanical-agitation hydroseeders. Pellet products activate and disperse quickly, reducing tank preparation time compared to conventional bale mulch. For specific application rates, water ratios, and equipment setup guidance, LSC’s technical team is available to provide site-specific recommendations.
