The Problem: The Camp Fire had ravaged through a landfill in Northern California, ultimately rendering their erosion-control tarping system useless against incoming winter rains, risking erosion and sediment loss on a 2:1 slope. With the pressure of approaching rain and the winter season, a new tarp was needed fast. However, the landfill discovered that the supply was delayed with no date in sight. Another imminent challenge was that the slope didn’t have complete soil coverage, leaving protruding debris. For the tarp to work properly and avoid damage, the debris would need to be covered or removed. Time was of the essence for this landfill to find a solution.
The Solution: Posi-Shell® EC was able to solve both problems quickly. Between December 3rd and 13th, under muddy-cold conditions, Posi-Shell® EC safely covered the entire slope and all protruding debris, while avoiding any loss of time waiting for supplies or the need for extra labor to prepare the slope for a tarping system. The complete application took just 4–5 days, having only stopped for rainy conditions.
