Depleted Topsoils, Revegetation and Erosion Control. When erosion control contractor Fencing Plus and LSC Team Members met with the sand mine managers from Kraemer, the situation was ugly. It was very evident that traditional methods had failed to solve their reclamation issues. They desperately needed a solution for their overburdening tailing piles.

Fusion™ — Problems Solved: Prior to using Fusion™, the contractor and site managers spread a thin layer of topsoil over the depleted exposed ground. Next, they broadcasted seed, laid single net and double net straw blanket, and stapled it to the ground. This approach failed. It was expensive and time consuming, requiring 10 working days to install. By switching to Fusion™, an engineered Hydraulic Biotic Soil Amendment (HBSA), immediate erosion control protection, soil reclamation, and long-term vegetation goals were achieved with a one-step, spray-on installation — all completed in just 2 days.

The 6.75-acre Kraemer Mining & Material site was burdened with tough soil reclamation, re-vegetation, and erosion control challenges:

• Accessibility — A difficult site to access. Fewer trips meant less money spent. One hydraulic sprayer eliminated the need for dozens of truckloads of soil.
